Lara Ibarra, the Austin, Texas, valedictorian of this year's Crockett High School graduating class, deactivated her Twitter account after her celebratory graduation tweet went viral, NBC News reports. The tweet read: "Valedictorian, 4.5GPA, full tuition paid for at UT, 13 cords/metals, nice legs, oh and I'm undocumented."
According to NBC, the tweet had 9,400 retweets and almost 20,000 likes when Ibarra took down her account. KXAN reports Ibarra also tweeted, "I want all this attention from strangers to stop already," shortly after the tweet picked up steam.
The tweet received both extremely positive and negative feedback. Many commented her immigration status was unfair — one person went so far as to tweet a screengrab after presumably submitting her name to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement:
